CAN OBD2 Interface System

The CAN OBD2 system reads data directly from the vehicles OBD2 "On Board Diagnostics" port. The system is configured to extract the required data from the OBD2 port, so that it can be used with our loggers and displays.

Vehicle Compatibility:

The CAN OBD2 interface is specifically for use with production vehicles (or other vehicles using production ECUs) which use CAN (Controller Area Network) technology for their OBD2 output.  In the US market, this includes all production vehicles of model year 2008 and after.  CAN OBD2 was phased in between roughly 2003 and 2008.  Vehicles with earlier OBD2 technologies will need our Serial OBD2 Interface.  Note also that some vehicles from the ~2003 - 2008 era have a CANbus for some functions but still use an older OBD2 protocol - those vehicles also need the serial interface. 

To determine the OBD2 technology used on your vehicle, it may be helpful to examine your OBD2 port and refer to this diagram.  Most, but not all, vehicles only install those pins which are actually used.
