CAN OBD system

The CAN OBD system allows you to read data directly from the vehicles OBD or "On Board Diagnostics" port. This data can then be logged by the data logger and displayed by one of our display products. The CAN OBD system can be configured, using our software, to display a number of paramteters available from the OBD port of the vehicles ECU.

Most late model vehicles and all vehicles from January 2008 onwards will use a CAN protocol for the on board diagnostics. For older cars the Serial OBD System would be suitable. If you are in doubt which interface suits your vehicle contact us on sales@race-technology.com

Channels normally available are:

• Engine load
• Water temp
• Lambda 1 and 2
  
• Lambda 1 and 2 short trim
• Lambda 1 and 2 long trim
  
• Fuel pressure
• Manifold pressure
• RPM
• Ignition angle
• Inlet air temp
• Throttle position
• Fuel level
• Vehicle speed
  

It is worth noting that not all of these are available in all makes of cars, it depends on manufacturers how many channels are available through the OBDII port.
