RPM inputs

I've been having intermittent failures to log RPM via the spark-in connection on my DL1 for some time now. It appears to be getting worse, ie the last time out I didn't get any log of rpm in any run. A CRO hooked to the terminal block at the back of the DL1 shows the signal (from the coil primary, a...

Still no progress?

Would it be possible to at least answer the original question, viz: does the input impedance change at power down, or does it have a guaranteed minimum due to an internal resistor?

Thanks.

I tried the snubber idea... and realised it was dumb. The spark is triggered by shutting the current OFF... so the diode kills the spark. Oops

Spark-in issues

I've been having problems with sporadic loss of rpm data on my TZ250. One run it will be fine, the next not... or it will come in or go out halfway through. At present the input is connected to the primary of the upper coil, as is the tacho. Looking at the source on a CRO with the engine running, th...

bike mode, buildoptions.cfg

Oops, yes. Anyway, the file you want is buildoptions.cfg I currently have two copies, one in the main directory, ie ../racetechnologyV6/buildoptions.cfg and the other at ../racetechnologyV6/otherfiles/buildoptions.cfg I think only one of these does anything... but you'll need to experiment to find o...

Go to the start menu->Race Technology->DL1->DL1 Configuration That should open a little window with a couple of radio buttons. Click on bike and see what happens. Hopefully all will be well... if you get something about the file being locked by another user, or the analysis program still starts in c...

Strictly speaking, it's not the logger that is in bike mode, but the analysis software. Iideally you change this through the configuration program, to car, bike or boat. For whatever reason that doesn't work on my PC (under Win2k), so I had to hand edit the config file.

Orientation of DL1 on bike

Given that in bike-mode the lateral accelerometers are disabled, does it matter if the DL-1 is mounted on its side (ie longest edge vertical)?

I'm running into a few space constraints on the new bike

If you cartwheel your bike at a 190km/h, smash the front panel of the DL-1 and put a 15 degree bend in the card, the top falls off. Could still read the data...

If it's still connected to the EFI, then you shouldn't need the pull-up resistor: that's already being provided. Just connect a single wire from the side of the sensor where the voltage varies (stare at your wiring diagram... one side will be connected to ground, or to a reference voltage... or both...

I ran with the antenna mounted on a small alloy ground plane, underneath the fibreglass ducktail on my bike. It seemed to work fine, except for the time the mounting screws fell out

Further investigations: Completely deleting all racetech files of all versions, re-starting and re-installing v6.3.0 makes no difference. However I have sorted out what's going on with buildoptions.exe Running it once writes a buildoptions.cfg file into the main racetechnologyv6 directory. Once that...

Auto run and buildoption issues with Win2k

This seems to be a problem specific to me, I'm really hoping someone else is seeing the same thing... When I first install v4 on my desk top, all was fine. However after various microsoft upgrades, I tried to change the vehicle type and couldn't... the configuration tool seemed to work ok but the se...
