It's confirmed that the just-released GoPro Hero 11 has 10hz GPS. Later this year there is a chance the Labs beta firmware will allow higher speeds.
Supposedly, the GoPro Hero 11 MINI has NO GPS. We'll find out in a month I guess.

GoPro SLOWED GPS to 10 Hz
...in the Hero 10 firmware 1.46. You can still get the 18 Hz in FW 1.42 or prior. I have not checked but earlier GoPros that have rec'd Summer 2022 revisions could also be affected. Perhaps they did this for battery life, not sure. Might affect the Hero 11 due for announcement in weeks. In general i...

Re: Careful if u upgrade PC or reload Parallels (Mac)...Repurchase
Ok doing an update to the Parallels software on my Mac, which seems to then require a reinstall of Windows 11 ARM. This will then require purchasing yet another GoPro software license for the same long term RT use (over 20 years) on the same laptop, just a few months later. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Re: Careful if u upgrade PC or reload Parallels (Mac)...Repurchase
Just did another Win11 install...holding off on another analysis software purchase for awhile. With windows betas and parallels install option revisions I will likely need 2-3 more analysis software purchases this year. For the same laptop, same private individual etc.

Careful if u upgrade PC or reload Parallels (Mac)...Repurchase
I'm going on three purchases for personal use as license transfers are not a thing. Most expensive software I own, over time. It does run wonderfully on Win11/ARM I can say and the Macbook Pro M1Pro truly rocks it. If you have to revise your Parallels install or certain Windows OS reinstalls you wil...

Re: GoPro Labs FYI
Yes Labs has many useful features for "our stuff" Here's a nice Protip if you use the LRV files at times or trackside etc. Recent GoPros such as the 9 & 10 have afterthought quality LRV files. Super compressed looking. Asphalt and curbing with no detail at times depending on the other parts of the i...

Re: Hero 10 + Latest Firmware Rocks
For when it's acting flakey, direct from GoPro: "Nothing is cached, all GPS and IMU data is stored as it arrives from their hardware components. The GPMF metadata for GPS has a GPSP (precision) and GSPF (2D or 3D fix) field, you can use those to validate the data. If you see a GPSP of 9999 and/or GS...

Re: Hero 10 + Latest Firmware Rocks
When the Hero 10 does give bad files, they turn out like this. The track maps are fine due to RT using the accelerometers to find truth along with the GPS. But the data itself shows way too long a duration and distance etc. Sample below with the cursor on the graph at the actual end of the video cli...

Re: Hero 10 + Latest Firmware Rocks
Still early days for me with the new Hero 10. Anecdotally I notice this message RE not syncing acceleration and GPS etc does not occur so far if I power cycle the camera (fresh GPS lock). If I do a few clips without doing so very often I get the message below. This may be coincidental but I do wonde...

Hero10-GPS.jpg Track map to pick up coffee. Both Directions. Middle has a valley with trees, houses and terrain impeding horizon view. Might have dethroned the Hero 6 as data king cuz better pos. acc. and fewer dropouts. Top of windshield mount, exterior Maybe those GoPro surfer dudes tweaked their...

Hero 9 Longitudinal G Issue
Emailed this to GoPro support as well. Sitting two GoPros on the ground has the Hero 6 showing 0 G laterally and longitudinally. Hero 9 shows 1G longitudinal and 0 G laterally. Should match the Hero 6 and reality as they were just sitting. Similarly Vertical Gs shows the 6 is showing 1G for gravity....

GoPro Labs FYI
GoPro has a geek section called GoPro Labs. You can get custom firmware (free) and add features to the 7-8-9 Black & Max to help with Race / Test captures https://community.gopro.com/t5/GoPro-Labs/ct-p/GoProLabs For example...you can have the cameras turn on above some MPH or G-Force or if voltage i...

Re: DL1 SD card lose
I've had this issue too, but solved it on my own. If you can geek a bit you can resolve the matter. With the unit apart and SD unit visible, just work a card in/out to learn the function. Then use a pick to move / align bits better. When done you wind up with a crisp and secure spring action and alw...
