GT means gear tooth, but given the complexity mounting one in an automotive gearbox that hasn't been designed from scratch for such a thing, it would be easier to mount them on individual wheels. This should be what you're trying to measure anyway. The other problem you may well have, if you where t...

Not just pressure, but temperature as well. The first thing you need to do is characterise the injectors, preferably individually, to voltage. Some ECUs will not offer user access to apply this information anyway. I hope all have some built in voltage compensation. Fuel delivery is not actually prop...

It is possible to buy thermocouples in the form of a washer that you install under the head of a bolt or nut. Cylinder head temperature sensors are traditionally a special case of this technique. They replace the sparkplug washer. Thermocouple (TC) outputs need to be amplified for all but special pu...

Note that on a bike, much of the accelerometer data can be misleading. For mapping analysis, you should disable the accelerometers. The GPS will do the job for you, with the DL1 mounted in any orientation. Just make sure that it is not too close to sources of EMI.Same goes for the routing of the ant...

Many young engineers think in black and white and lust for a squillion significant figures. Real life, which includes inanimate machines and the measurement there, of just ain't like that. Lawyers are not the only chaps dealing with grey areas. The same applies to the documentation Nevertheless, as ...

I hope your SADs are improving with some increased sun (northern hemishere, I presume, unlike myself). My mood slipped somewhat when we lost the 0-5 V inputs the early DL1s had. An economy measure, no doubt, but perhaps justifiable when the price of a DL1 is considered. Look at your problem from the...

Nice, but when I say my car, I'm the engineer, not the driver. It's difficult to reach into this GT style race car, even if you can be next to it when it leaves the pits... I often do data for several cars at a meeting, usually in the one category. Invariably the driver is the car owner, with assort...
