Peter, Having no termination resistors will not really be a big factor in noise (i.e. interference). If you have interference then you should use a screened cable earthed only at one end (to avoid ground loops). The 120 ohm resistor is actually to allow matching of the impedance. a matched impedance...

Thanks for the response, having used it for a few days now all is OK. Maybe some glitch with the CF card?

Kuah, Did you ever get this to work? I have just done an install into my BMW MINI with a DL1 (mark 1 green connectors) firmware 28-2, Dash2 firmware 9.1.9 and a ECU serial interface, firmware is for Motec M800 data set 3 090529. My M800 is 3.52J. These are all the latest levels for all devices. Voil...

DL1 Internal Battery

Hi, I have started a new project to get a DL1 and Dash2 connected to a Motec M800 on my MINI JCW. I have purchased the ECU serial adapter and Dash2 and connected everything. The Dash2 is new, but the DL1 is one that I have had lying around for a couple of years. It is a Mark 1 (later edition with gr...

Hi there, Seems Sideshow is unfamiliar with quadratic equations - and there is no need for him to know anyway. The info below is taken from the R-T site. Air Temperature Sensor Description High quality "NTC" type air temperature probe manufactured by Bosch. Overall length of 49mm, and a fi...

Good point, I never considered the current drawer. It's been working like that since 2006, so I will leave well alone.

I used a 15 Ohm resistor as it gives a wider voltage spread. http://img176.imageshack.us/img176/2438/vdocalcs.jpg Note that I measured 4.98V on the +5V reference out from the DL1. You just input the voltage against the corresponding pressure value into the table provided to get your quadratic equati...

Sorry, I think the diagram is confusing you. This is merely a representation of a "typical" CAN bus connection in a normal road car. The point I was trying to show is that it must have 120 Ohm at both ends. If you are now measuring 60 Ohm then the circuit connections should be correct. Reg...

Osborni's solution is the correct way to connect earths. I am willing to bet that half of the intermittent issues reported in this forum are the result of bad earthing. :D

I attach a pic of what the circuit should look like. There has to be some resistance in the circuit. http://img220.imageshack.us/img220/4366/canbustermination.jpg Generally, the ECU will be terminated with 120 Ohm and the last device on the bus should also terminate with a 120 Ohm resistor. So worst...

If you want true speed then it might be better to mount them to a rear wheel as you can get wheelspin on the driven wheel.

If you want to monitor wheelspin then the front is the correct place. Generally, even one pulse per wheel revolution is accurate enough for most people.

This is from an old post of mine, but the data is still valid. This is the bar versus resistance data you need for the VDO 10 bar sensor. you will need to convert it to voltage by adding a pull-up resistor to +12v to create a voltage divider. Bar Resistance 0 = 7.2 0.5 = 18.2 1 = 28.2 1.5 = 39.2 2 =...

Jeremy,

Exactly. This is the missing AND most important part of the puzzle.
