If they have multiple data formats depending on model, etc, let me know and I'll get some more info for you.

Raw GPS data is in the format of our GPS chip manufacturer, uBlox. Apparently their format is documented in some information on their website - I don't know any more than that, sorry.

The main thing is to use a strain gauge amplifier that will get the voltage to be logged into a range that can easily be read and resolved by the DL1 (ie volts (0-5 or 0-12) not millivolts.

David: Have you used the serial<>USB interface for anything else, and are you sure it is at Port3? I focus on this because it is the most common problem area. It is also possible that the DL1 is not configured to send serial data. How old is the DL1 and what level firmware is it running? Firmware re...

Probably.

Do you know the characteristics of the signal, ie voltages and pulses/revolution?

(I'm assuming it is on the output shaft of the gearbox and thus proportional to vehicle speed)

Tristan:

You are correct. The remote start switch circuit still attaches directly to the DL1 - the resistor is not inline with the switch, it goes directly between the trigger input and 5V. Obviously needs to be fairly high resistance ie 1k ohm.

I assume this worked for you?

David:

You will need to use a null modem cable (as supplied with DL1) between the DL1 and the serial-USB adapter. From your ref to a gender changer it sounds as if maybe you are not using the null modem cable.

JC: Maybe the best thing is to use the autostart function (as opposed to a stick) and forget the remote start button and remove it completely, as there must be some kind of interference in your application coming in over that line. Auto start based on speed works very well in many applications, you ...

Hi:

Using your numbering, #1 and #3 are actually the same port, just pinned out to two places for flexibility, so cannot be used simultaneously as inputs.

For your other questions, the various configs all apply to the "main" (ie 1 & 3) serial port.

Klaus:

Firmware sent.

Your DL1 may need a reflash too, though the issue may be just the DASH1.

If your DL1 is a MK2 version (double row rear connector block and serial port on rear) you will need different firmware for that if a reflash is required.

This from one of our chief engineers: Well spotted, you are absolutely correct and the documentation is wrong. There is an extra byte of data after the second byte of the year which is the current offset from GMT. This is to allow external display devices to display the local time. The actual time o...

We need to know whether it is a MK1 (two rear connectors, serial port on front) or MK2 (double row rear connector, serial port on rear) DL1.
