Thanks for finding the proper solution and pointing out a "flaw" in the way the user variables are calculated. It looks like they are sequential and don't use the standard precedence (do multiplies before adds).

Another Step
Well it sounds like there may be another math step needed to make it work in analysis. I don't have have a dash 2, so I've never looked through its documentation or anything about how they connect together. When I get a chance over the next couple of days, I'll see if there is something in the docum...

Standard User Variables
What are the standard user variables that everyone is using? I'm using Combo G = sqrt((VAR_0002*VAR_0002)+(VAR_0004*VAR_0004)) Calculated Brake = max((-1*VAR_0002)-((VAR_0015*VAR_0015)/50000),0) And I will be using this one once I get my steering sensor setup. Speed Steering = steering angle*VAR_001...

Analog 18
The analog 18 input in a user equation is called VAR_0217. You can select it from the Variable list that is on the bottom, right of the equation editor window. In either case, your equation should look like 83.59 * VAR_0217 * VAR_0217 + 123.93 * VAR_0217 I cut and pasted the above equation into the ...

Formula
It would look something like
83.59 * VAR_02XX * VAR_02XX + 123.93 * VAR_02XX
where VAR_02XX is the correct variable number for your oil pressure input.

I must have missed that he wanted to keep the instrument cluster still working. The important question for making both systems work is what type of gauge is in there or is it an integrated unit? Standard needle gauges are current meters, more current, more needle deflection. They also tend to operat...

Solution
This should be straight forward. You need to connect the 5V DL1 supply through a resistor to the sender. The wire that goes to the sender also goes to the DL1. The resistance value will determine how much power it takes and the voltage range that the DL1 will see. If you select a 100 ohm resistor, w...

Auto Start/Stop
Do you have your DL1 configured to automatically start and stop and if so is it setup correctly? If you aren't sure, I would re-configure it the way you want it.

Did you update the Dash 1 configuration? While I don't have a Dash 1, it appears that you update the programming of it from the Dash 1 configuration program, not the CF card that plugs into the DL-1. Of course the DL-1 configuration file needs to be copied to the CF card. While you don't mention tha...

DL1 Firmware Revision List
Is there a DL-1 Firmware revision history somewhere?
I have an old DL-1 with the two green connectors and I was wondering if it was worthwhile to update the firmware. In particular I'm curious what features I'm missing and how useful those features are to me.
Thanks,
Paul

Thanks, Perhaps it will clean up my RPM signal enough that I won't need the updated analysis software to get my gears!!!

RPM Source Clarification
I've read through the help files associated with connecting the RPM pickup and it seems that using the negative lead on the coil should be more reliable than a P clip around the HT lead or a spark plug lead. Under the Low Tension Pickup section it implies that the red wire can be directly connected ...
