Dash2 Pro - E36 M3 Evo ecu

Postby rodgling » Sun Sep 08, 2013 11:59 am

Does anyone know if the dash2 pro will talk to the E36 M3 evo ecu via CAN, and if so, what data is available that way?

thanks

Dave

I don't know for certain, but given how long ago that car was introduced I would be surprised if it had a CAN interface on it at all.

Yeah, me too, thought I would check though.

So it looks like I will need the extra four channels instead of the CAN option.

This is still a bit tight on data channels - do you plan to produce a breakout box which can just provide additional data inputs? (Obviously I could use a DL-1 for this but that's a very expensive way of doing it if I only need some more inputs).

Yes it is something we are looking at producing in the future. It will be a higher spec unit with better quality ADCs. No idea on pricing though, it is just too far off.

Thanks, that's good to know.

For my purposes (and presumably lots of other customers in my situation) ultra-high-quality ADCs are not critical if they push the price up. If high quality is key then presumably people can buy the DL-1, but for me the key need is to cheaply add more inputs/outputs. Hope that's useful.

For what it's worth (though this probably belongs in the suggested new feature section).

About 1/2 of my inputs are slow to change variables like water and oil temperature. Recording them at 5-10 hz is sufficient. A breakout solution to take care of the slower sensors would free up the higher data rate inputs on the DL-1.

I agree, this is exactly what I had in mind.
