well i just spend a whole day on this dash
ive signed up to do a degree in order to learn how to use this
a customer of mine bought a dl1 and a dash 2
well i just charged him 1000 bucks to set up his units
i doubt ill ever tell anyone to buy this unit
anyway he has dl1 and a dash2 with std sensors that come with the unit
set it up and getting negative values when i select race tech water and air temps
went thru it and there is a problem in the factory calibration settings
made the pos nunbers neg and the neg numbers pos and it sort of worked
but how the helllll do i know if its accurate at all
im going to go thru these forums and see if there is any similar probs and then chagre the owner another 1000 dollars to get the whole thing perfect
so far it has cost him over 4000 dollars he is not happy
i told him he should have stuch with 3 or 4 vdo gauges
you would expect when i select the factory sensors that the equations would be ok
spent hours going thru the help files
they dont say jack shitttt about how to make yr own equation
even albert einstein would be bedazelled
anyway i guess ill either persevere or just get him to put it in a strong box and we can use it as a wheel choc
as i think he will never get it working perfect
for what it does the setup is wayyyyyy to time consuming

I've used the DL1 for years now. Never had that problem. Sensors have been pretty much plug and play.
Have you looked at the voltages the DL1 is seeing (Use the Monitor software with your laptop plugged into the DL1), and tried converting them using the given equations manually?
The only time I had a problem with the built in equations was when I was beta testing V7, and had an old equation get into the system that was causing a few problems. RT sorted it almost immediately.
Don't give up. It should be about a days (maybe two) work to install a DL1 with all it's sensors.
The DL1 only sees voltages. The conversions to human units (temps, pressures etc) takes place either in the software or in the dash units. Verifying voltages should be the first thing to do. Can you post some where (especially the troublesome ones)?

So makes it hard
Oil water and temp all std r t sensors
All wired direct to dash2 anyway each time i go there i loose 400 bucks in lost time so ill let him finish doing the complaining
Just fking frustating taking so long to program after wasting so much time
And money

If you are getting negative values (are the values correct, just backwards?) you may have wired the sensor backwards.
Not sure what the other issues are. I had a DL1+Dash2 installed and set up in a few hours. Figure an hour a sensor when you include the wiring harness work to get to the sensors. 10-15 hours for everything?
But then there are reasons why Motec or AEM charge $1,500-2,500 or more just for a basic engine harness.

Hi Sideshow,
If you would like to email:
- details of what you are connecting up to which channels
- the dash.dat file from the DASH2 setup program
- information about what's not working
my direct email is andrew@race-......com
I would be happy to check over everything and advise.
Kind regards,
Andy

ok i managed to get car back and i have a dash.dat file
hope its the right one
anyway is there anyone in sydney australia that know how to set these up
customer is also complaining bout oil pressure reading to hi
says its 130 psi
and most enignes run from 30 or 40 up to 80 or 90 psi
and like i said i have selected the factory sensors that come with the dash
and i get these figures
