Help With RPM Display

Can anyone help with this simple issue?
I can't get the rpm reading on my dash1 to display correctly. Lap timing, and speed display etc etc are working great from the DL1. I have taken the tacho feed from my Caterham ECU and fed it to the rpm input on the DL1. I have checked it on a scope and it's a good clean pulse ~6v p to p and 2pulses per revolution ( ~ 34Hz @ around 1000 rpm ). However the reading displayed is wrong as it jumps around 600rpm for a while and occasionally jumps to 3500 rpm! I do not know what to put in the filtering section on the DL1 config and corresponding equations on the dash1 config. Suggestions for settings in the DL1 and Dash1 for such a pulse would great!
