DL1 reflash questions

I'm using a DL1 and would like to reflash it to get the GPS altitude data

is firmawre version6the last one ?
and where can I get it?

from the analysis tool :
logger serial #830, using firmware version 4-2.

my current laptop has no serial port, by I've got an USB to Serial converter, which seems to be fine for Garmin GPS

I've read about the config file I must add on the CF, is there anything else I should know ?
