DL1 - needs calibration? Standing start only?
DL1 - needs calibration? Standing start only?
I'm using a DL-1 to test 60-130 mph times. Can I stop and start logging when on the move? Should the car be stationary when the DL-1 is powered on?
Felix:
It is OK to power up or start logging on the DL1 when moving.
Things are cleanest if you have a GPS lock when logging is started, but even without things work OK.
Main caveat is not to use the "auto zero accelerometers" function in the PC software unless logging is started in a level, non-accelerating condition (usually meaning stationary) as that does effectively zero the accelerometers using the first part of the run. This is done in the PC and does not affect the raw data, but can produce flawed Analysis data.
