STILL UNSOLICITED AUTO START.....

Postby jcmagne » Sun Oct 07, 2007 6:20 am

I wrote some months ago that my DL1 (new MK2, with one connector, bought in march 2007) starts and stops logging itself.
I have made reflash with the file you have sent to me but still starts itself.
setup is standard with autologging off.
the unit is on a single seater (F3), there is of course some vibration but we try to hold unit in the hands and the result is the same, logon start itself when engine start (some seconds after in fact).
we try to measure the current between unit and mass we have 3mv, then we put a wire to the mass and dl1 still start itself when engine starts...
we use analogic input for brake pressure, rpm, throttle, and lambda A/F ratio.
Does the analogic inputs would be able to auto start logging?
I read several threads about that but never read solution...
What do you think about ?

JC:

I'll send you an even more recent firmware file, but I doubt that is the issue. Reflash the DL1 then run another config file with no auto start.

Do you have a remote start switch? I have heard of those picking up RFI and causing issues. Analog inputs can be programmed to cause autostart, but should not otherwise.

For diagnosis, I'd try disconnecting everything except power and seeing if it still gives an "uncommanded" start, then connecting everything one by one, starting with the GPS antenna, and seeing when/if the problem recurs.

After disconnecting all and connecting again one by one we found that the lead of rpm high level (from king HT lead) gives an "uncommanded" start.
have we to filter ?
if i try to connect the red lead to low tension side of the ignition coil (- terminal) where do i connect the red lead on the dl1 side ? to the low level input?
The black lead is always to the ground ?
What can we do?
thanks in advance for your help.

JC:

Lead from 12V side of coil still goes to "high level" or "spark in" (on older units), as this signal still has high transient voltages.

See if that works for you.

I tried yesterday.
the error is still the same. DL1 start itself wthout pushing the start button.
is it possible to filter the signal to prevent autostart ?
is it frequency or amplitude which is able to induce autostart ?
what to do ? use other analogic or frequency channel for rpm?
thanks in advance.

Our hardware engineer suggests attenuating the signal by adding a 6.8k resistor inline with the rpm lead, and a 150k resistor, to ground, between the DL1 and the 6.8k resistor.

Al:
All works fine now.
we have a 6800 ohms resistor between the negative of the side coil and the high level of DL1, the ground of DL1 to the + of the coil (we tried the inverse which seems logic but was wrong)
we have no autostart and rpm is valid
Thanks very much for your help.
