DL1 Serial data sheet - mistake?

Postby Gav86 » Sat Dec 22, 2007 3:58 am

Hello, I'm not sure if this problem has been identified before, but here I go anyways.

I recently started to analyse the data output from a DL1 logger. I cooked up a few programs to try to work out how to interpret the data stream for telemetry purposes.

Whilst doing that I found that the length of channel 55 wasn't 9 bytes long as the data sheet said. I manually calculated the checksum to make sure, and I came out with 10 bytes. I then ran a search through about 7 or 8 of the run files I have, and came up with no instances of channel 55 being 9 bytes long, but found occurrences of it being 10 bytes long.

Has anyone encountered this problem before? Thanks for reading.

This from one of our chief engineers:

Well spotted, you are absolutely correct and the documentation is wrong. There is an extra byte of data after the second byte of the year which is the current offset from GMT. This is to allow external display devices to display the local time. The actual time output in the data stream is always GMT.
