Decode Serial data ...

Hi - Im still at the bottom of the learning curve, but hopefully someone can help me out with thses serial port questions ....

I read that the DL1 has three serial ports; (1)Main & (2)GPS on the DB9, and (3)Serial Data on the 24-way block.

Ill be using the ECU Module to convert my ECU stream into "RT" format, and then feeding it into the DL1 Main serial port (and then passing that on to the Dash2).

Can the Serial Data port (3) be used at the same time, eg to log raw serial data from device X?

The DL1 configuration program has a tab for serial port configuration. Which port(s) does this refer to? For example, is the Main port always at 115Kbps, the GPS port at 4800bps, and the Serial port defined using the DL1 config program? What about "decode serial data" ... is this referring to using the ECU module (Main port) or the Serial Data Port?

On the DL config tab "Update rates", which port(s) is the "Incoming serial data" referring too?

Hi:

Using your numbering, #1 and #3 are actually the same port, just pinned out to two places for flexibility, so cannot be used simultaneously as inputs.

For your other questions, the various configs all apply to the "main" (ie 1 & 3) serial port.

which ECU are you using??
RTUSA,
In my new project I will be using DTA S60Pro ECU (http://www.dtafast.co.uk/S_60_PRO.htm) - are you planning to support data stream from this ECU?? Any pointers to use it?

Im using the following two ECUs (although not at once ;-)

)
- MBE967 (ba622)
- DTA S60Pro (v32)

Ive been speaking to RTUK and have provided them with examples of the MBE serial format. The feedback was that it should be no problem to get the RT ECU module to convert this into the RT format. Ideally I want the DTA decoded too - but I havent provided them with any example data from that one yet.

do tou have a sample serial data from this ECU. I just got this ECU and it is located in Europe, where my car is, but I am in Canada and have no access to it. Can you help me??

I have examples (and a perl decoder) for the MBE, but nothing on the DTA yet. I assume its the DTA version you want?

We've gone a little "off topic" so maybe you should email me directly and Ill send you a DTA example once I do get something. (Oh - its version V38, not V32 not that should change the format??)
