Chasecam PDR100, with datalogging overlay via Trackvision.
Chasecam not entirely flawless, as the PAL version has some black areas around the edge and a line of 'static' at the top, which is easily cropped (and not visible on a TV screen, but is on a computer monitor), whilst the Trackvision also isn't flawless.
But ignoring petty things, the overall output is pretty fantastic!

I recently bought one of these on a trip to the US and think it is excellent (I use it as a rear facing camera). Records in widescreen HD here.
For the front I use an RF concepts Sony Bullet cam linked to a DV camcorder in the boot.

I use a JXD personal solid state video recorder, which saves the video in ASF format. It is hooked up to a Sony 480line bullet camera, and an electret microphone.
The camera is powered through a +12V 1.5A regulator, with 330nf and 100nf decoupling, to remove rf interference (white lines) whilst the engine is running.
The JXD recorder was purchased from Hong Kong via ebay and has 512MB built in, which gives about 2hours of recording time at 320x240 25fps.

Of course, if I had any data I'd be able to overlay it

Example of solid state video with overlay from a DV500 recorder and a viosport bullet camera - need a different mic though!

I use a miniDV Panasonic camera mounted behind the seat. Overlay with Video deLuxe. Sample of Nuerburgring GP here: http://www.british-sports-cars.de/download/videos/Nuerburgring_28072005_Session2_website.wmv

I have loads of videos on Youtube, many using DL1 data and using Trackvision for the data overlay.
The camera in all cases in a bulletcam and the recorder is a Mobibox. These are fairly cheap (around £120) units that can record from an AV in where you can use a bulletcam or record from anything with a AV out socket (video player/sky+ box etc.)
http://www.pocket-lint.co.uk/news/news. ... ideo.phtml
The camera I think is a 520TVL one 3.6mm
The recorder records in ASF format at 640x480, fps are variable but always well over 30fps and bitrate is also quite high. Recordings are gerenally good VHS quality and certainly more than adequate for YouTube (even with new HQ option) and such.
INFO: Youtube HQ option. Youtube randomly select videos to offer in HQ mode, if this option is available you see an option, bottom right of the video.
Here are some recent videos.

Aiptek Action-HD. Shoots 720p (1440x720, progressive) at 60 fps. Records to SD cards (solid-state flash memory) Looks good online (vimeo) and great on a big screen HD monitor. Audio stinks, but a loud exhaust can make up for it.
Soon to add DL-1 data overlay, as soon as Trackvision will work with the native .mov files (h.264).
Here's a sample.

(Registered and logged-in Vimeo users can download the original file, which looks much better than the already good-looking Vimeo compressed version)

I found the camera, but im wondering, on the back it has an AV in/out, plug-in. does this mean it will work with like a remote camera? ex. have the recorder in the glove box, and have like a remote camera in the wheel well or engine compartment? and hows the file compresssion? what kinda file size would a 10 min video be?
-Thanks
