AP22 - Very Inaccurate Speed Recording Problem

Postby marka87uk » Wed Jul 30, 2008 8:40 pm

Hi,

I just bought a second hand AP22, and although it appears to work when showing G-Forces, when it comes to recording time between speeds, it isn't performing correctly.

I set it to minimum of 30mph, maximum of 70mph, and as I was rolling up to a roundabout I pressed Start, where it said 'Get to 30mph' (like it should!); however, as I was still rolling forward slowly, it began recording '40mph... 50mph... 60mph' etc until it had finished, when I was still only rolling at about 5mph!

I've set the weight of the vehicle but I'm using the other default CdA and RR values. It's also on a fairly flat surface on the dash.

Any ideas? It's my first time with a device like this! :(

Thanks in advance,

Mark

Hi Mark,
You need to make sure that the vehicle is not moving when you start the measurements, otherwise it will mess up the accelerometer calibrations which are performed before the start of the run.

Martin

Ah thanks, my mistake - I'll be testing more then! The problem is finding a suitable road!
