Can the DL1 count a pulse signal (knock)?

Postby TheOtherEric » Mon Oct 06, 2008 10:24 pm

I would like to use the DL1 to monitor if my car is knocking; my knock signal is a very quick pulse from the ECU (probably 5V). I see that Version 7 seems to have a "Pulse Counting" feature on the frequency inputs. Does the software then just count pulses and store that count in the variable VAR_0316 "Pulse 1 [-]" ? If so, I assume I can send that to the Dash display.

Thanks for any help!

I have not tried the option.
My car with wheelspeed sensors is currently out of action.

 Perhaps you, or someone else with a frequency input in use, could experiment and let us all know :?:

Sure, I might try experimenting, but if my car is not knocking then I'll never know if it's working or not. :(

I don't know of an easy way to cause knock, short of filling up with cheap gas.

I meant with another sensor that is known to be working hooked up to a frequency input.
:)
