Dash3: Gear Indication in a bike engined car?

Postby cchapman » Sun Mar 29, 2009 7:59 pm

Has anyone successfully used a Dash3 connected to a DL1 for gear indication in a bike engined car (or bike??) revving up to 11,500rpm? I am getting accurate rpm and speed data from the DL1 to the Dash3 and the calculated "kph/100rpm" are correct & have been verified by RT, but for some reason the gear indication will not work correctly. It appears to work for lower gears (1-3) at very low revs in the paddock ... but as soon as I go on track at race speed and in the 7000 to 11,500 rpm range, it seems to indicate a gear low and will not register 6th for love nor money. RT have ensured I have the latest Dash3 software and v7 of the DL1 software ...... now running out of ideas.
Any relevent experience out there that would help fix this?? Thanks
Colin

Had the same problem with the highest gear showing. Look at the Dash 3 Config and look at the upper limit in each gear calculated - you will find that the upper limit in 6th gear is wrong (must be a bug) change this to 180mph and 6th gear will display.

Gear indication on Dash3

thanks Fraser .. we did try putting artificially high numbers in but I cannot remember just how high we went. We now have it set up to 20kph/1000rpm in 6th which implies 230 kph at max revs ... so some way short of your suggestion if I assume 180mph at genuine max revs (say 11,500). Did you manage to get the other 5 gears working .. mine all read too low in most circumstances.

Gear indication works perfectly in my application - I'm using a car engine revving to 7,500 rpm though.
