GPS antenna foil

I've just changed over the roll cage on my car for a newone and on removing the GPS antenna from the top of the old roll cage I have accidently damaged and pulled off the sticker on the base of the GPS antenna.

I notice that this sticker is metallic foil and I'm guessing it forms a ground plane for the antenna.

Question is... since the GPS antenna will be mounted onto a steel roll bar (approx 30mm wide) will it matter if this foil sticker is missing??

I think the foil is just a sticker about the GPS receiver. I don't think losing it will have any effect on the unit.

I might be wrong.

The antenna should work fine with out the sticker on the bottom.
