Monitor sw not working

Postby HH Tech » Fri Nov 25, 2005 1:27 pm

Hello
My "monitor" SW isn't working
I use Windows XP
I checked the cable.
The COM 1 serial port work whit other applications.
The DL1 is working ok otherwise (except for RPM input)
I can't find any activation of the serial port in the setup.txt file.

Is there any way I can test the DL1 with say a DMM or with the hyperterminal SW to determine if it

Hi Henrik,
You can test it with hyperterminal, set it to 115200 baud, 8 data bits, 1 stop bit, no parity, no flow control. With the DL1 connected to it you should see a copyright message when the DL1 is first turned on. Make sure that you are using the null modem cable supplied with your DL1, you can check the cable by making sure that pin 2 at one end connects to pin 3 at the other end.
The calibration and test is done using the monitor software in the office before units are shipped, so it is very unlikely to be the DL1 not outputting data. You can also test the cable by connecting pin 2 and 3 together on the cable, any characters typed on hyperterminal should then appear on the screen with the short in place, and not without it.

Regards,

Martin

Hello
conecting #2 and #3 on the Hyperterminal is giving the suggested result. But conecting it to the DL1 it shows rubbish with the text flickering

Does not seem quite right does it..........

That does look right. The data coming from the DL1 is in binary format, so you won't see a string of numbers in hyperterminal. It does seem that the communication to the PC is OK.

......try connecting to monitor while logging data.
