Analysis version 8 error message, won't load

Analysis version 8 has just started throwing up the following error message when loading, having been working fine, even with 8.5 installed at the same time:

'There was an error communicating with the external serial decoder, loading aborted'.

I have tried reloading it without success. Version 8.5 loads and runs correctly, albeit with the ongoing video integration issue unresolved.

Before I get drastic and remove everything including registry entries, any ideas?

As its a wet afternoon I decided to do a fresh install of version 8, including the registry clearout, but I'm still getting the same message. Do I have pc fault?

sorry - we've now updated the libraries for v8.5 and it's no longer possible to have v8 and v8.5 on the same machine - it causes a clash. Obviously either v8 or v8.5 alone are fine.
