Problem connecting PC to Dash2

Hi - I've recently purchased a track car fitted with a Dash2. It all works fine but I'd like to change some of the settings - rev scale, etc.

I've downloaded v8.5 of the configuration software to my laptop but am having no success in connecting to the dash. My laptop has a built-in serial port which tests ok.

The car didnt come with a serial extension cable - so i've been connecting to the d-type fitted to Connector 2. The dash firmware is 9.35.

Should i be using a special extension cable - does the race technology one have a crossover?
Is the version of the configuration software too new for my dash? (its marked 2008)

thanks
Andrew

Try version 8. Had no problems connecting to my Dash2 and DL1 with version 8.

I tried 8.5 last week and couldn't connect to anything.

Needless to say, version 8 has been reinstalled.

Do you have it connected to a DL-1? I make all my config changes to my DASH-2 via the CF card.

I've changed the Dash2 config. both ways - via CF card and serial cable.

Hi - thanks for the quick replies.

I'll try version 8 and report back.

The car came with a DL1 which i've not fitted yet. If i get no joy with the screen - i'll connect the logger and try the changes via the CF card.

Downloaded and installed V8 last night - worked first time !

Maybe a bug with the latest software and older screens.

thanks for the help : )

Sorry - I suck at this stuff.
I'm having the same problem (not able to comm' with the Dash2 via v8.5, but was able with v8, last year, with my old laptop). So...where does one find the good old v8?
Thanks!

IIRC, i had to perform a firmware upgrade to enable it to connect to 8.5.

Email support direct?

Hi

You can download V8 from our website - it is in the 'legacy' section on the downloads page:

Thank you "racetec"!
So, I'm curious, do Race-Technology acknowledge that going back to V8 is a reasonable solution to communication problems with V8.5 on an old Dash2? Any other troubleshooting list to check?
Again, my old laptop was able to communicate fine with V8 and the adapter cable that I am still using, but my new laptop with V8.5 doesn't seem to see the Dash2, at all.
Thanks, again,
Steve, in the NLs

The old v8 setup had got removed from our server, but its back now.

With regards v8.5 and v8, we are not aware of any particular issues with v8.5 - its been out for a few years now, its tested on a range of operating systems, and in use by 1000s of users. If there is a particular issue on your PC then I would urge you to follow the guidance set out here:

Hello chaps

I’m having some issues connecting my extreme ecu with my race technology dash 2 display.

I have the link canser lead so I can connect the ecu into my laptop and open the PC link software, change the CAN settings and apply the settings to transmit to my Dash 2.

I also have a Race technology CAN interface lead which is Pre programmed for the Link G4+ ecu’s.

So when I connect the Canser lead in and connect to the RT CAN interface lead it won’t connect to my ecu or dash 2. So I’m assuming that the serial connector on the canser and the serial connector pins don’t mate up? Or that I’m missing somthing else

Any help wuld be great so eat so I can read my ecu settings on my dash 2!!

Thanks
