Engine Management failure warning light

Postby BiKenG » Tue May 17, 2016 5:40 pm

You know, the one many cars and motorcycles have with an icon that looks like the outline of an engine and it glows and/or flashes when there's some sort of failure in the engine management system. And possibly is also used to flash a code sequence that identifies the problem. How best to bring that into the Dash2 (Pro)?

Since neither Dash2 products include this as one of the strip of warning lights along the bottom, what would be the best way to deal with this. It's one thing to watch an input and raise an alarm when it goes high, but in this case it also needs to somehow display the flashing sequence. Is there an obvious way to do this that I'm missing?

The simplest solution is probably to not use the Dash2 for this at all and instead install an external LED and connect the signal wire to that so it will act exactly as the OEM dash. But I get the feeling there's a better way that makes use of the Dash2.

Anyone offer any advice on this?
