Downloading HEX files

Postby disquek » Sat Jan 28, 2006 4:45 am

Per your knowledgebase, there is no way to select a file type of "TXT".

I've tried FireFox 1.0, 1.5 and IE 6.0.

The only options you get in IE are "HTML" and "All Files". FireFox only offers "All Files".

Please let know how to proceed and, if approriate, please correct the knowlegebase.

Assuming you are trying to download DL1 hex file...

http://www.race-technology.com/WebPage2 ... 2&expand=1

then right click on the link "http://www.race-technology.com/Firmware/DL1/DL1V6.HEX" and click on save as... this will allow you to save the file onto your desktop or wherever. The "All files" option simply means dont append a file extension.

Works fine for me :)

If you still have problems understanding it all then me an email address and I will send you the hex file as an attachment...

Can you also help with DL1 GPS Configuration, it wil set baud rate but then comes up with "failed tp connect to GPS3 module please check it is connected correctly" I am using same serial port as reflash and same cable, DL1 is powered.

Thanks Mike

I was successfull too, but the instructions in the knowledgebase are not representaive of IE6.0 or FireFox 1.0 or 1.5. They should be corrected.

The knowledge base has been changed, and the file has been changed to a .zip file which makes it much easier to download with different browser types.

Hello mike1795

on your question:
Can you also help with DL1 GPS Configuration, it wil set baud rate but then comes up with "failed tp connect to GPS3 module please check it is connected correctly" I am using same serial port as reflash and same cable, DL1 is powered.

see GPS specific questions: GPS configuration problems.

The normal cable will not do. Other pins are needed to connect to the GPS3 unit inside the DL1.

As I understand it the DL1 has the GPS3 receiver hardware built-it and does not require the external GPS3 device. Configuration of the internal GPS receiver is done using the DL1 config tool not the external GPS3 config tool.

Hello,

Turby is right. But you can connect to this with a serial cable.
The only thing is that it uses other pins of the sub-d connector then the cable which is with the DL1. So you have to make a cable.

Thanks again,
Making up a cable is not in my job description im affraid, i don't want to risk damaging anything. I now have our distibutor in Australia checking it out and will pass on your information.
