Hi,
I’m running a DL1 and Dash2 in my BMW M3 e30 V8. From the MBE 970 ECU RPM pin I have connected the Engine speed input to Dash2. The problem is that the Dash wont show revs over 2511RPM. Under 2511 It seems to work well. Any ideas?

You said a v8 in a e30? Which V8? - this implies an engine swap. If your ECU isn't picking up the proper input signals it will cap speeds.

Assuming that your install works properly.... (and it sounds like it is per your video)

You can play with the # of pulses per rev to get your dash properly scaled.

You can also pick up RPM from any one of the coils. The signal pin will give you a solid and stable RPM signal. Since it's a 4 cycle motor, the number of pulses per rev should be easy to figure out.

I'm guessing you have an M62B44 in there?

The thing is that the Dash2 shows the accurate rev up to 2511RPM. The MBE ECU put out 4 pulse/rev like I have configure in the Dash2 configurations tool.

Any ideas?

That might literally but correct, but I would just scale the R-T software to make it look right.

It matters more that your dash displays properly, then anything else.

Barring that, pick up an RPM signal from a coil on plug driver.

I have now checked the rpm signal with an oscilloscope and the signal looks very fine. A square 5v signal. Is it possible to use 5v signal to Dash2 RPM input?

Yes you can use a 5v or 12v square signal for the RPM. Connect to pin2 on Connector1. Pin outs can be found here http://www.race-technology.com/wiki/index.php/Installation/ElectricalInstallation

On the electrical installation of the dash 2 it says 12v square.
I'm thinking you're not going to get any rpm with 5V square.

Tried it also. I connected it to the dl1.

MAybe you need to make a pull-up resistor?
