How to configure an AEM ECU to talk to a RT ECU interface

Postby Stratocaster » Wed Apr 14, 2010 3:21 pm

The AEM ECU is configured from the factory to NOT stream data out the serial port. So to use the RT ECU cable, you have to configure the AEM ECU to stream the data that RT understand.

So I thought I would share exactly how to do this as I found this hard to figure out with the limited data posted here and on the AEM forum. Hopefully this will help the next guy trying to get these two products to talk.

  • Connect your straight through Serial cable to your AEM EMS as though you are going to program your ECU
  • Launch AEM Pro
  • Connect to ECU

  • Once connected to the ECU, Click Setup -> Advanced -> Telemetry ->Telemetry Setup

  • Change the Parameter Count to 19
  • Change the Header byte to 0x55
  • Verify the Enabled check box is checked.
  • Set the Baud rate to 19200
  • Verify that Parity is set to None
  • Add the following parameters in the following order:
  1. Engine Speed
  2. Engine Load
  3. Throttle
  4. Air Temp
  5. Coolant Temp
  6. ADRC11
  7. ADRC13
  8. ADRC14
  9. ADRC17
  10. ADRC18
  11. ADRC15
  12. ADRC16
  13. ADRC108
  14. O2 #1
  15. O2 #2
  16. Vehicle Speed
  17. Gear Calculated
  18. Error #1
  19. Error #2
  • Click Show Info

  • Verify that the setting match the values above
  • Click OK
  • Click OK
The configuration is now saved the ECU.
