video 4 remote start/stop via DL1

Postby ukb327v » Wed Sep 12, 2012 5:18 pm

Hi, we currently have a DL1 installed in a vehicle with a remote start/stop button installed. we have just connected a video4 into the system and set this up and we are having trouble setting the start stop button to activate the DL1, the video 4 is recieveing data from the DL1 as this appears on the video overlay.

it is important we have a remote start stop as the auto start stop doesnt work for our requirements.

is it possible to trigger the video4 from the DL1 remote button?

thanks in advance

No - this can only be used to stop/start the DL1, not the VIDEO4. The options are:

- Connect a switch to an analogue input on the DL1, and get the VIDEO4 to trigger off this
- auto start/stop on speed
- manually start/stop using the VIDEO4 logging button
- start/stop logging using a button on one of our dash products

Ok thought that might be the case...

would this work-
The current remote switch move that to an analog input to the dl1, then set the auto start trigger in the video4 to begin recording when that analog channel spikes to 5v(I.e when the co driver presses the log button) and then stop recording when the channel spikes to 5v again. The only issue I can see with this is the switch is not going to illuminate to tell the driver whether the logger is recording.

I presume the dl1 logging light is not going to illuminate when it is passing data to the video4

Thanks!

Not quite... you could autostart on the input going high breifly, but you can't have the same condition to autostart and autostop.

You could start it logging like this, and then autostop when speed < x kph for 5 seconds or something.

Alternatively connect a switch, so on=5v and triggers the VIDEO4, off=0v and stops the VIDEO4.

Cheers, looks like I will be going down the route of a toggle switch!

All works perfectly with the video and data activated by a rocker switch.

Cheers for all your help

Ignore: Read the manual, fixed my problem (in my defence I am male and therefore wasnt really sure what instructions were until 20minutes ago!)
