Tapping into SPA Design sensors/instruments

Postby CharlesElliott » Thu Jan 24, 2008 7:47 pm

Has anyone tapped into SPA Design supplied sensors/instruments? If so, how did you do it?

The sensors have industrial type plugs so there's no easy option at that end, and at the SPA end there is a 12 way connector. There isn't even a lot of single insulated wire to tap into.

You should be able to take the inputs pins from the connector that goes into the SPA display, you can then solder tap wires onto the back of the pin, put the pins back into the SPA connector, then put those wires into the inputs of the DL1.

You should only need the input as these will have a voltage relating to the pressure / Temp.

Also you will not need the pull-up resistor, as this may affect the sensor output.

If you have a Dash you could just replicate the output voltages, and not use the SPA display and just use the sensors. (This is what I will be doing this week, on the Racer) as I have a DL1 and Dash2
