Connecting sensors to analogue dash 2

Postby approvedlunatic » Mon Sep 07, 2009 8:21 am

Ive read the details of how to attach the sensors to the dash 2 but have a question.
If the earth/ground connections of the dash 2 are connected to the vehicle as earth is there any need to run the earth connection from the sensor back to the dash 2, or do I just earth it locally.

Local is find provided you have a good chassis ground.

IMHO, it is simpler to wire them all to a home location with three conductor wire then to mess with multiple wire paths and connection points. I put all mine through a radio shack project box to keep all the connections in one place. It makes diagnostics and changes much easier.

Osborni's solution is the correct way to connect earths. I am willing to bet that half of the intermittent issues reported in this forum are the result of bad earthing. :D
