RPM output - pulse vs freq

Postby scorpia » Thu Jul 22, 2010 2:09 am

changed ECUs -= the old one output to tach and i paralleled off that and into DL1 RPM input, worked all fine.

The new one has what the factory manual describes as going up to approx 5 volts during operation.

Aftermarket tacho works, DL1 doesnt.

I'm thinking that the 5v signal has a freq in it - should I connect to a freq input and adjust accordingly? I'm about to go and do this, just thought that I would ask and see if I am missing anything.

Cheers

Are you getting any rpm data or just a completely flat line on the RPM?

completely flat line, but when i went to check and move the input from rL to freq i put a meter on it and its got no volts, so im guessing the auto electrician neglected to reconnect the DL1 - tacho wire  (there was a junction there)

either way, when i run or reconnect the correct cable should i be putting it into rL or freq1?

aftermarket autometer tacho started as soon as it was connected - same as with old ECU.
