i know how to calibrate oil/water temp and pressure sensors but how do i calibrate an air temp sensor. i have no way of creating a steady and adjustable adjustable air temp so can i use water? maybe place the sensor in a glove or something so it can be submerged without getting wet???

That sounds like a good idea to me, I would think it is about the most stable and controllable way of doing it.

I would use an oven to heat the probe, and a fridge to cool it. I would wrap the sensor with a K-type thermocouple attached to a display, and when the temp stabilises at a value take a reading with the logger. 5 degrees, ambient (night and day can give a 20 degree spread), and 100 degrees should give enough values to calibrate a usable curve. I have an air temp sensor that I will use soon, and that was my plan.

Most sensors these days are encapsulated, so using water is a great idea. If the wires leading to it are bare, just touch the end of the sensor to the warm water.
