Measuring cylinder head tempreture on an air cooled engine

Postby pete28 » Tue Oct 13, 2015 7:03 pm

Hi there
I'm just about to order a DL1 and Dash 2.
I have an air cooled engine that i would like to log the temperature of the cylinder heads. I currently use a very basic mechanical device from air cooled VW engined planes but I wondered if sometime like the exhaust gas temperature sender or something similar could be used. Ideally I would want to run the sensor under the plug so a ring terminal would be perfect.
Is there a ring type sensor that its compatible with the DL1?
Engine temp ranges from -10 to 250c
Any help appreciated
Regards
Pete

If it is a thermocouple, which likely it is (and K type), you will need a 0-5 volt amplifier. These amplifiers are widely available and I think you can find the sensors very easily as they are used in karting (and elsewhere).
