brake switch

can anyone point me in the right direction,i have a dl1 and wish to add a brake swith into it.simple brake switch,two spade connection,on or off.

car is a westfield with a cbr 954 injected engine for hillclimbs and sprints..

Just run a single wire from one of your brake light bulbs (the positive voltage side natch) back to one of the 12v analog inputs on the DL-1. You can then just read the voltage (make sure you set the filtering time to 0) in the software - hey presto...

hi dave ,
thanks for the reply.the car doesnt have any brake lights..its basically a bike engined racing car.what it does have is a brake light switch in the front brake line.
can i run 12v to one side of the switch and the other to the dl1?

I think so, I think that open circuit inputs on the DL-1 float at 0v rather than some indeterminate voltage

You might play it safe and have an extra resistor running from the DL-1 end down to earth so that when the switch is open it definitely records 0v.
