RT Oil pressure and Oil Temp sensor

Postby thomasschum » Wed Mar 21, 2007 10:26 am

Hi all,

having purchased the RT oil pressure and temp sensors, i have trouble with entering an equation.
I have Dash2 and DL1 with latest firmware, also the latest RT software.

Are there standard sensors to choose in Dash2 software ?
The choosen standard sensors made wrong values.
Or which equation have I to enter?

Regarding help shows equations with "x4", but software only allows to enter an "x³" factor equation manually.

I have to say that I am not an maths genious, sorry....

Problem is like this. Analysis gives a perfect 17°C on oil and water sensor. Dash2 gives weird figures! there seems to be something wrong with the standard Bosch sensor equations!

Hi guy's

did some thinking and came up with the folowing

calculated teperatures (°C) per 0,25 volt increment from the calibration equations.(excell works great!) Put the outcome in to the "generate from table" tab in dash2 config and noted the equation coming out of it. Isn't going to be perfect, but hopefully workable: x in equations like RT uses it!

For water temperature in °C: -1,5*x^3+15,92*x^2-74,23*x+148,05
Oiltemp. °C: -1,31*x^3+15,68*x^2-76,16*x+144,51

Standard dev. being about 17.9 ( who can give comment on that?, what does it mean?) :?:

I haven't tried it jet, will report later!

PS anyone who is interested in the 3 short colums in the spreadsheet, give me a mail on: supermono55@xs4all.nl :?:

Supermono:

Are you using the latest PC software? There have been some recent changes to the DASH2 config software.

Hi Al, Thanks for giving a reaction!

The analysis is version 6.3.101. Don't know the firmware, bought the unit (dl1 and dash2) over here end of last year.

Just went over the figures and enhanced the spreadsheet a little. I now have some figures which seem to work, at least for the area's where i need to know stuf. The figures i gave earlier where useless!

For water i just set up with: -3,65 27,7 -90 162
Oil is set up with -6,95 49,4 -135 185

I'll check de website for updates.

For the record, is one of the new features about the use of standard sensors?

Erik:

I'm not sure exactly when, but some sensor calibration formulas were corrected fairly recently.

Hi Al,

Just downloaded and installed the latest software. I can see that the sensor values are altered.
Took the liberty to set your figures in my spreadsheet for comparison. They are way off in comparison of the x^4 numbers given on the website.:!:

Do you mind answering the next question? How acurate are the figures displayed on dash2 with the new config program? Or better, how accurate are the figures given in the "race technology supplied sensor calibrations" table?

I dont mind things beeing off somewhat, as long as i know about it  But it would be a shame to "destroy" a great engine bij running it to high or low in temperature.

already thanks for your reaction!
