Dodgy RPM

Postby faraday » Fri Jul 18, 2008 12:12 am

Some logger companies have active HT RPM pick-ups that have an encapsulated doo-dad that is secured around the HT lead. I assume that they have filtering and pulse shapping circuitry inside.

There is a Pi version (5V supply) that has adjustable sensitivity.

Nudge-nudge, wink-wink; say no more.

After issues with a shiftlight (and getting a stable RPM signal) I have resorted to one of these... Giant Magnetoresistive Pickup (GMR PN 8918) from MSD. Can be connected to coil pack wires, injectors and also used on diesel engines!

Solved all my problems quickly and efficiently for minimal cost. Can also be transferred from car to car within minutes.
