Speed up AVI to VD4 conversion

Postby Halsbury Racing » Mon Jul 21, 2014 1:41 pm

I have posted about my problem before but not had a reply:

So some questions to help me minimize the 40minute conversion process:

What affects the speed of the conversion?
Do I need multiple processor cores, or a faster single processor? More RAM?
Anyone using an intermediate format (MPEG perhaps) and another conversion software to get this painful job done quicker?

Any suggestions much appreciated.

Morning.

The conversion will use all available cores, and is as efficient as it can be - I don't think you will find anything out there faster.

If you update your software to v8.5 this now support nearly all video formats, right up to 4k HD - so I would expect that you can just load it in without the conversion being needed.

Kind regards,

Thanks for the quick support.

Version 8.5 does solve my problem - immediate loading of my video. Unfortunately my video license only allows me to use V8 or earlier, and at the moment we can't justify the £150+Vat to upgrade from SD video license to HD video license, unless somebody here wants to purchase a second hand SD license....

Ah - shame. Its true the new software requires a video license that was bought in the last 3-4 years from memory. Unfortunately licenses are locked to the DL1 hardware and so not transferable.
