Gear sensor for race bike
Gear sensor for race bike
Is there a sensor that's appropriate for tracking gear changes on a bike? We would like to be able to tell what gear the rider is in when cornering and such.

If you bike has a gear-position potentiometer (GSX-R and ZX-10R do I believe), then you can just connect to the output of that sensor.
Otherwise, you may wish create a math channel with something like (gear = speed/(RPM/1000)) the ouput will be a "stair-stepped" graph each level representing a particular gear. It's pretty easy to figure out when you see it.
BTW - any varience in the "flat" sections indicates a slipage (clutch, wheelspin, etc).
