Motorcycle GPS antenna
Nearly all GPS antennas are carefully designed to cut off all received radio signals below about 10 degrees above the horizon. This is a deliberate and desirable quality in a typical antenna as any signals received below this angle are likely to be reflections from the ground, not signal directly from the satellite, and as such will give incorrect ranging information. This effect is called multipath, and is is one of the major sources of error in GPS signal processing. While this 10 degree cut off works well for "typical" GPS installations, it is not ideal for motorcycles where the antenna will be tilted up to about 50 degrees on corners. Using a standard antenna in this situation may cause loss of satellite lock and poor data. The motorcycle antenna is specially designed to accept signals up to about 40 degrees below the horizon, so even at high lean angles the GPS receiver will be able to maintain lock.
