Serial OBD2 Interface system
The serial OBD2 system reads data directly from the vehicles OBD2 "On Board Diagnostics" port. The system translates the available data from the OBD2 port to a format that our displays and loggers can use.
Vehicle Compatibility: The Serial OBD2 interface is specifically for use with production vehicles (or other vehicles using production ECUs) which do not use CAN (Controller Area Network) technology for their OBD2 output. In the US market, this includes all production vehicles of model year 1996 and after, until roughly 2002. CAN was phased in between roughly 2003 and 2008, with German automobiles typically adopting it sooner than US and Japanese. Vehicles with the newer CAN OBD2 technology will need our CAN OBD2 Interface. To determine the OBD2 technology used on your vehicle, it may be helpful to examine your OBD2 port and refer to this diagram. Most, but not all, vehicles only install those pins which are actually used. Specifically, the Serial OBD2 Interface will work with vehicles using IS09141-2 and SAEJ1850 VPW or PWM technologies. We do not have a product compatible with older OBD1 vehicles unless they have an aftermarket ECU. » Add to basket (USD 389.00) Note: all orders from Virginia will have sales tax at 5.0% added after the order is processed |
