Turns out a 0-5v hall effect sensor can work the dash!!!
This was by just waving a steel bolt over the end of the magnet
Next job is to start sorting the other inputs out and the gear ratios...

Actually... hang on... I can just run a wire from the 5v feed pin to the signal pin and make/break connection manually to see if it registers cant I?????

If I was you I would try a different USB port on the laptop > try a different USB to serial adaptor > try a different laptop > try downloading the latest software from the Race Technology website & do a reflash. ...

Dash accessed and settings updated!!

ahhh ok.. the std peugeot sensor is driven by a gear hung out the bottom of it which engages with a drive inside the box so any trigger pickup will be internal, and of course the sensor is a sealed (fragile french) unit.. i`ll have a drive out to my boffin friend and get his opinion next week.. many...

quick update... just had a very helpful email from.. lorne@race-technology.com many thanks for the info and conformation of K3+dash2 compatabilty... looks like another item has sneaked onto the peugeot shopping list hahaha no doubt i will return on here once purchased as i`m more spanners and socket...
