Date and time from DL1 data

Postby abooker » Thu Apr 17, 2008 10:05 am

Hi,

Using data from my DL1, I have obtained GMT time of day (hh:mm:ss) by dividing down 'GPS time'. Is there any way of obtaining the date ie yy:mm:dd ?

Thanks,

Alan

The data you require is contained within the .run file (see serial data, packet 55) though its not presented to the user via the variable manager (I presume because its not a simple numerical value but a string).

Thanks for your response.

Has anyone extracted data directly from a .run file? If so would you care to share your script so that I could modify to extract date information?

Ideally I would like to load a user defined variable with this data, but failing that, an export to a .csv would suffice.

Whilst I understand this may seem rather a lot of effort when I could simply manually enter the date, my hope is to automate the process of adding date and time to DVD subtitles.

I don't think it is possible to do what you want. The analysis "scripter plug-ins" which generate data for analysis software works on data captured by the serial port on the DL1 and not the data generated by the DL1 itself.

I suppose you could hand-craft a complete off-line decoder for your .RUN files, but then you wouldn't have any of the added features provided by the analysis software which correlates the GPS with accelerometers.

FWIW the date and time of the start of the run is shown in the run manager.

How do you see your prospective work flow being organised from logging to DVD burning ?
