DL1 MK3 Format

Does the DL1 MK3 have to be formatted in FAT32 for it to work properly?

I am not sure about the MKIII but my older DL1 requires FAT16 (which means smaller flash cards as well).

DL1 MKIII need to be FAT32 SD memory card and support up to 32GB. Please also ensure the file allocation size is set to default.
