Variables and custom equations - error messages

Postby Bikey » Wed Feb 12, 2014 6:12 am

I am trying to configure my brake switch input, which I've used previously without issue. I want analog input 6 to read "1" if it receives voltage >10volts, otherwise I want it to output "0". But when I input the equation that I've used before - "if(VAR_0205>10,1,0) - I get this error message:

Custom equations that are used for regular variables cannot contain references to other variables. Use user variables to combine variables

I just switched to 8.5.239. What am I doing wrong/did you really make this change?

Hello,

You need to change the VAR_0205 to x.

Kind regards,

So this means I can only reference one variable in a custom equation, which is the input from that particular channel?
I am suddenly running out of user defined variables thanks to upgrading to 8.5.

In a user defined channel you can reference many variables. What you can't do is create an equation for analogue 1 to be analogue 2 for example.

8.5 is limited to 25 user defined channels.

Thanks. Is there any way you can bump this up in the next sofware version, to like 50 user variables?
