Antenna Extension Cable

Postby m3pilot » Thu Jul 17, 2008 4:28 am

I have a DL-1 and would like to mount the GPS antenna in a location that would require an extension cable. The connectors for the antenna are listed as an SMA type and the I think the cable is marked as RG-174. Thought it would be a fairly simple task to find a 10' RG-174 cable with male and female SMA connectors. Not exactly. After a fair amount of searching I have finally found a couple options.

One cable has the correct connectors but uses LMR-195 cable, which is 50 ohm cable but about twice as thick as the RG-174 and lower loss. Any idea if this will work? I did find another cable that uses RG-174 but it is a male to male cable so I would have to add a F-F adapter which would have some additional loss, not sure if this would be an issue.

Any advice you can provide would be much appreciated.
