Ideally connect the blue wire to a good ground on the engine.

The two P-clips should be different sizes to accommodate different sized wires.

You can put the P-clip around either a coil-distributor or a coil-plug HT lead, it is a matter of convenience.

Look in Help for more info.

I've read through the help files associated with connecting the RPM pickup and it seems that using the negative lead on the coil should be more reliable than a P clip around the HT lead or a spark plug lead.

Under the Low Tension Pickup section it implies that the red wire can be directly connected to the negative lead of the coil, while grounding the other wire. Both of these wires are still connected to the Spark In and Spark Gnd inputs on the DL1.

Is this correct? The Wires with Ring Terminals section of the Low Tension Pickup page was misleading (like it belonged on the HT Lead Page).

Thanks,
Paul

Hi Paul,
Yes you are correct, you can wire the red with to the negative terminal of the coil and the black wire to ground, with the other end of the lead connected to spark in and spark gnd.

Martin

Thanks, Perhaps it will clean up my RPM signal enough that I won't need the updated analysis software to get my gears!!!
