ECUType / HaltechV1AndV2PS1000

Haltech PS1000 / V1 / V2 / V2.35

Compatibility

  • Haltech Platinum Sport 1000 (PS1000) ECU
  • Haltech V1 CAN protocol (commonly used on Elite 1500 & 2500 series ECU)
  • Haltech V2 CAN protocol (commonly used on Elite 1500 & 2500series ECU)
  • Haltech V2.35 CAN protocol (commonly used on Elite 1500 & 2500 series ECU)

There multiple versions of the Haltech CAN protocol. The V1 protocol is present in all Haltech Platinum ECU’s to 08/02/11 firmware version 1.0 – 1.09. Starting from firmware versions 1.10 all Haltech Platinum ECUs will support V2, and all products that wish to interoperate with Haltech ECUs should support the V2 protocol. PS1000 ECU's with firmware 1.12 and newer supports Haltech V1 and V2 CAN output protocols. The CAN output version can be selected in the PS1000's ECU manager software under Main Setup -> Devices -> CAN Mode.

Configuration

Specific ECU configuration is not required, although the CAN protocol version output by the ECU must be known to configure the Race Technology equipment correctly. Note that not all CAN Packets will always be broadcast. The Haltech ECU may opt not to broadcast a particular packet if that feature is not enabled/used.

Connections

The PS1000 & Elite 1500 & 2500 series ECU should be connected via CAN connections. Connect the Race Technology equipment CAN High to the ECU's CAN High connection and same for CAN Low:

PS1000

CAN connections are located on the 8 pin rear connector:

CAN High - Pin 7

CAN Low - Pin 3

A 120 OHM terminating resistor connected between CAN High & CAN Low terminations may be required for some installations, where the ECU is located at the end of the CAN Bus. The ECU is equipped with an internal terminating resistor which can be enabled by fitting a wire link between pins 2 and 6 of the 8 pin connector.

(Please see example below, connector sold separately via Haltech Part # HT030003 - https://www.haltech.com/product/ht-030003-plug-and-pins-only-8-pin-black-tyco/)

Elite 1500 & 2500 Series

CAN connections are located on the respective universal wiring harness CAN connector:

CAN High - Pin 3

CAN Low - Pin 4
