How Do I Process Boat Data


1. Because of the relatively high rates of roll and pitch that are seen on a boat, typically it is better to calculate speed and position without combining GPS and accelerometer information. Typically use these options:


2. The speed traces from boats tend to look more "noisy" than data collected from cars - this data isn't incorrect and it just a result of the boats pitching and rolling motion being measured:


3. If required then you can add a little filtering onto the speed to more accurate measure the boats average speed


Note that because the filters in the analysis software do not intorduce any latency onto the signals, acceleration times etc only only affected very slightly.
