Updating the Firmware on a DL1 CLUB to Ensure Compatibility with the Configuration Software

Overview

To ensure full compatibility between the DL1 CLUB hardware and the latest Race Technology Configuration Software, it is important to keep the DL1 CLUB firmware up to date. Firmware updates provide new features, improve stability, and ensure correct communication between the logger and the PC software.

This page explains how to check your current firmware version and how to update the DL1 CLUB using the built in Reflash function in the configuration software.

When Should You Update the Firmware

You should update the DL1 CLUB firmware if:

You have installed a newer version of the DL1 CLUB Configuration Software
You experience communication issues between the logger and the PC
Race Technology support advises you to update

Using mismatched firmware and configuration software can lead to missing features, incorrect settings, or unreliable operation.

Checking the Current Firmware Version

1. Connect the DL1 CLUB to your PC using a USB cable.

2. Power on the DL1 CLUB.

3. Open the DL1 CLUB Configuration Software.

4. Select Read Configuration from DL1.

5. The firmware version will be shown in the device information panel.

If the version is older than the version included with your installed software, you should update.

Where to Find the Latest Firmware

The latest firmware is included inside the configuration software itself.

To access it:

1. Open the DL1 CLUB Configuration Software.

2. Go to File → Reflash

3. The software will automatically select the correct firmware file for your device.

There is no need to download firmware separately.

How to Reflash the DL1 CLUB Firmware

Follow these steps to update the firmware safely:

1. Ensure the DL1 CLUB is connected to the PC via USB.

2. Power on the DL1 CLUB.

3. Open the DL1 CLUB Configuration Software.

4. Go to File → Reflash.

5. Confirm that you want to update the firmware.

6. The software will transfer the firmware to the DL1 CLUB and start the update process.

Important:

Do not disconnect the USB cable during the update
Do not power off the DL1 CLUB
Do not close the configuration software

The DL1 CLUB will automatically reboot once the update is complete.

Confirming the Firmware Update

After the device restarts:

1. Open the configuration software again.

2. Select Read Configuration from DL1.

3. Check that the firmware version now matches the version shown in File → Reflash.

If the version has not changed, repeat the process.

Troubleshooting

The Reflash option is greyed out

Ensure the DL1 CLUB is connected via USB
Ensure the unit is powered on
Try a different USB port or cable

The update does not start

Restart the configuration software
Power cycle the DL1 CLUB
Ensure no other Race Technology software is running

The device does not reboot after flashing

Power cycle the DL1 CLUB manually
Reconnect via USB and verify the firmware version
